Embryo freezing provides a safe new pregnancy chance for couples who have IVF. If there are many embryos with sufficient quality, freezing can be done with the consent of the patients. The freezing process can be performed in the embryo or blastocyst stage.
These embryos can be transferred in a natural cycle or in a cycle using hormonal therapy. Transfer in the natural cycle can be performed in women with normal ovulation, requiring ultrasound and hormone monitoring. For the transfer of embryos in the artificial cycle applied to women with abnormal ovulation, the uterus needs to be ready for conception.
Pregnancy rates obtained with frozen embryos that develop healthy when dissolved are parallel to the fresh embryo transfer cycle.
A successful IVF has to assess all embryos obtained from patients and to maximize the chance of pregnancy. Therefore, it should have a good embryo freezing program.
