Laparoscopic laser surgery is done under general anesthesia. After 1 cm incision was done with a needle, the abdominal cavity is inflated with 3-4 liter of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas. Then optical tube (laparoscope) is placed inside the abdomen through the umbilicus.
The optical tube which is connected to a video camera transmits abdominal inwards to the screen. In this way, any particular part of the abdomen might by seen by directing a laparoscopy. Later two holes, which are approximately 0,5 cm each, are made in the groin area. These holes are necessary to insert instruments which will be used during surgery.
